Miami-Dade County Public Schools comes to an end this Wednesday, but the school district plans to hold on to report cards for a bit longer as they decide whether to add a curve to students’ grades. The curve is meant to accommodate for how students may have been affected by the pandemic in the fourth academic quarter after schools were closed March 13.

Parents, teachers, and school administration worry that some students may have been impacted by the challenges of distance learning including those who found it hard to handle routine changes and those who were already behind who may have fallen further.

This initative was spearheaded by School Board member Martin Karp who passed a proposal at a meeting last week that called on Superintendent Alberto Carvalho to consider student stress, learning environments and obligations before penalizing students.
