ON THIS DAY

Since March 15, less than 3% of the more than 1.5 million unemployment claims in Florida have received their benefits – just 40,193 Floridians. A new website launched by the state today exposes these numbers and is expected to be updated daily, providing a look at the scope of our state’s unemployment crisis. Of the 162,039 claims processed, 41,573 (one in four) were found ineligible for assistance.

This new website comes after Governor Ron DeSantis replaced the person in charge of the state unemployment system with Department of Management Services Secretary Jonathan Satter, who promises complete transparency and a streamlined application process.
