Nine of our neighbors have been pronounced dead in the last 24 hours. As of April 19th, 2020, there have been a total of 207 deaths due to coronavirus across Miami-Dade County. May those who have fallen to the pandemic rest in peace.

Total number of cases (Miami-Dade County): 9,166

Total number of hospitalizations: 869

Total number of deaths: 207

Greetings neighbors, this is the Miami Corona Project Daily Update for Sunday, April19th, 2020:

As of yesterday, there have been 9,045 positive cases of coronavirus across the county, with 857 hospitalizations and a total of 198 deaths–three more than yesterday.

Across the United States, the national total of positive cases is now 726,645, the total number of dead has risen to 37,938.

Let’s hope today brings better news.  I’ll update you tomorrow.

ON THIS DAY

One of the lives lost over the weekend was a 26-year-old man, reported to be the county’s first homeless person to succumb to coronavirus. According the the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust, the unidentified man was a resident at Chapman South Homeless Assistance Center in Homestead. He presented on Friday with a fever and was taken to Jackson South immediately, passing away a few hours later.

The Homeless Trust cares for more than 8,000 homeless people and shelters another 1,020. Seven homeless people have tested positive for COVID-19 thus far.
