Daily update: April 9, 2020

Greetings neighbors, this is the Miami Corona Project Daily Update for Thursday, April 9th, 2020:

As another day passes, the coronavirus pandemic continues to drastically impact our  lives

As of yesterday, April 8th, 2020, there have been 5,412 positive cases of coronavirus within Miami-Dade County, with 383 hospitalizations and 50 deaths.

A focal point of this data is in its demographics, notably the fact that a large portion of these new cases are from the Krome ICE detention center, where 238 inmates have currently been exposed to the virus.

The continued spread of coronavirus has led to the implementation of even more stringent measures from our local government, officials who are mandating that everyone inside grocery stores, pharmacies and convenience stores wear masks or face coverings.

We are now at 50 deaths in Miami-Dade County.  We don’t know how many more will die. Nationally, the numbers are even more staggering, 779 people died in new york alone yesterday.

Across our nation we have 427,079 positive cases of the virus along with 14,665 deaths.

In times like these, we must continue moving forward, working together in large-scale cooperation to bring an end to this pandemic.

Let’s hope today brings better news.
