The Florida Department of Transportation commissioned Xavier Cortada to create artworks for Florida Turnpike’s Ft. Drum, West Palm Beach, and Turkey Lake Plaza. Also at Ft. Drum Plaza are 12 other of Cortada’s depictions of Florida land animals threatened by human encroachment and development as part of his participatory eco-art project, Florida is… Nature.
