CORTADA BRINGS "SHOAL" TO DEERFIELD BEACH

Xavier Cortada completed his latest public art commission, “Shoal,” at a municipal lot facing Deerfield Beach’s shoreline. The metal art installation’s fish-shaped cutouts represent vanishing species that live in the nearby ocean. As the shadows it casts shift, we see the schools of fish fade away, reminding us of the urgency to protect our oceans.

The Xavier Cortada Foundation’s #KeepCoolMiamiDade campaign kicked off with a pop-up exhibition at the Coral Gables Museum on Thursday, May 25th, 2023. To amplify the impact, Cortada joined forces with MISSION, a prominent producer of cooling gear, to create special edition cooling towels.

UNITING PRIDE AND ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISM: LAW FIRM EXHIBITS 219 CORTADA ARTWORKS 

On June 22, 2023, Xavier Cortada celebrated Pride Month at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole + Bierman (WSHC+B), a law firm with more than 90 attorneys in five offices. The LGBTQ+ artist delivered a passionate speech emphasizing the intersectionality of social justice causes, recognizing how the fight for equality and environmental preservation are intertwined. He commended Weiss Serota for exhibiting 219 of his endangered animal drawings and environmental prints across their firm’s main lobby, acknowledging the power of art to raise awareness and inspire action.

CORTADA'S CERN EXHIBIT TOURS MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM

Explore artist Xavier Cortada’s rotating exhibition, “In Search of the Higgs Boson,” at the Miami-Dade Public Library System. In 2013, Cortada created five striking, large-scale banners to honor the remarkable scientific achievements of CERN researchers who utilized five distinct search strategies to discover the Higgs boson, helping to prove the Standard Model of Physics. On June 21st, the summer solstice, Cortada led a performance of the “Longitudinal Installation” at the Coral Gables Museum.
