MUSEUM OF THE WHITE MOUNTAINS ACQUIRES
CORTADA'S "WATER PAINTINGS"

The Museum of the White Mountains has acquired Xavier Cortada’s Water Paintings as part of their permanent collection. The work, created in collaboration with scientists at Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, includes water samples, water data, and a series of works on paper created by the water flowing through each of the nine weirs onsite.

The museum, based in New Hampshire’s Plymouth State University, is featuring the work as part of its exhibition, “Field Station: Art-Science in the White Mountains,” which runs through February 11, 2023.

PUBLIC ART: DEDICATION OF CORTADA'S "HERON"
AND "IBISES" AT PINECREST VILLAGE HALL

On January 10, 2023, the Village of Pinecrest hosted a dedication ceremony for two paintings that Cortada was commissioned to create for Pinecrest Village Hall, “Heron” and “Ibises.”

In addition to the Pinecrest mayor, council members, residents and staff, Cortada was excited to be joined by the Pinecrest Youth Advisory Council – the future leaders of the city. He explained, “I painted these pieces for them, the residents who will work on solving the challenges they inherit from us, just as these native birds face the consequences of our rampant development today.”
