“Littoral Creatures” is an art exhibit by Xavier Cortada at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center, Crandon Park/North Beach Entrance, Key Biscayne, FL. It is free and open to the public. Proceeds (30%) from sales of the art will benefit the under-served children’s programming at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center.
At the opening reception of the Littoral Creatures exhibit Cortada also unveiled the poster of the “Seahorse|Seagrass” painting he created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserves. Exhibit-goers received a copy of the poster along with information on how to join Cortada in celebrating forty years of protecting the preserves. Cortada will invite attendees to join him again on October 25th for an adventure paddle culminating in a participatory eco-art installation on Helker’s Island in the aquatic preserves.
The exhibit’s opening reception was on
Saturday, September 13th, 2014 from 5pm – 7pm
and coincided with the artist’s 50th Birthday.
