An evening exploring ethics, art activism, and performance
This collaborative research project among students and faculty at FIU and Miami Dade College explores ethics, art activism, and performance. The April 11th event is presented in two parts and concludes with an eco-art reception at the Hibiscus Gallery:
Part 1:
Pinecrest Gardens’ Banyan Bowl at 7:00 PM
A thought-provoking conversation moderated by Dr. Darrell Arnold, MDC Department of Arts & Philosophy, with community artist-activists Dale Andree and Chire Regans.
Intermission:
Pinecrest Gardens’ Hibiscus Gallery at 7:30 PM
Meet the Artist & Refreshments.
Part 2:
Pinecrest Gardens’ Banyan Bowl at 8:00 PM
A performance of “Flying Solo with Artist X,” an examination of the life and work of local artist-activist Xavier Cortada, written and directed by Associate Professor Phillip M. Church, FIU Department of Theatre, and performed by FIU students, alumni, and colleagues.
After the event:
Pinecrest Gardens’ Hibiscus Gallery at 9:00 PM
Guests are invited to attend the opening of Cortada’s Plan(T) eco-art exhibition.
Support for The Humanities Edge, an MDC-FIU Pathway Partnership, is provided, in part, by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
The Plan(T) eco-art exhibition is sponsored by the Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor and Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners through a grant from the Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council.
