On February 17, 2025, Xavier Cortada was officially inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame during the Florida Arts & Culture Awards Ceremony in Tallahassee. Established by the Florida Legislature in 1986, the Hall of Fame honors artists who have made a lasting impact on Florida’s cultural landscape.

For over 30 years, Cortada has pioneered socially engaged art that bridges art, science, and activism, tackling issues like climate change, sea level rise, and social justice. His work—spanning from murals and community-driven projects to installations at both poles—has inspired countless Floridians to take action in their communities.

As an inductee, Cortada’s name is now permanently displayed on the Florida Artists Hall of Fame wall in the Florida Capitol rotunda, alongside past honorees such as Ernest Hemingway, Robert Rauschenberg, and Ray Charles. He also received a commemorative bronze sculpture designed by artist Enzo Torcoletti.

This recognition celebrates Cortada’s enduring influence on Florida’s artistic and environmental landscape and reinforces the power of art to drive social and environmental change.
