Artist Xavier Cortada was invited by Yale Law School to travel to New Haven and deliver a lecture on his socially engaged environmental art practice, “Art in Action: Fostering Climate Advocacy and Community Mobilization through Creativity.”

After the presentation, he engaged the Yale University community in the performance of his “Longitudinal Installation” ritual at Dwight Chapel, asking participants to share their own stories about how their lives had been impacted by our changing climate.

The day ended with a guided tour of the Yale University Art Gallery alongside the faculty and students of the Environmental Protection Clinic.

Blending art, advocacy, science and academia, Cortada fostered important discussions around interdisciplinary approaches to climate action.
