Sea Level Solutions Day 2023

On October 28, 2023, in his capacity as Miami-Dade County Government’s Artist-in-Residence, Xavier Cortada addressed the Sea Level Solutions Day volunteers who gathered at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens to begin their collection of water samples and flood data during our King Tide. This citizen science project was presented by Florida International University Institute of Environment’s Sea Level Solutions Center in partnership with Miami-Dade Office of Resilience. The data collected will directly inform policy on urban flooding around South Florida.

The Xavier Cortada Foundation, one of the event sponsors, was also on hand to engage them in creating their own Underwater elevation yard signs to help inform neighbors about our collective vulnerability to rising seas. Learn more about this initiative at www.cortada.com/underwater
