Artist Xavier Cortada kicked off the Global Learning track of the 9th Annual International Conference on Educational Innovation (CIIE – 9no Congreso Internacional de Innovación Educativa del Tecnológico de Monterrey) on Monday, January 16th, 2023 at the Biblioteca Campus Monterrey at Tec de Monterrey in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
His presentation, “Using the Power of Art to Work Across Disciplines in Engaging Communities,” explored how socially engaged art can convene and mobilize local problem-solvers. Cortada encouraged everyone in the audience, including his colleagues who teach at fellow Hemispheric University Consortium institutions, to lead with love and empathy as humanity is faced with the monumental challenges of the 21st century.
The Xavier Cortada Foundation was also present to engage conference attendees with the HELLO participatory art project, originally launched by Cortada at COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland.
