Now that the midterm elections are behind us, we need to look beyond the things that divide us. Let’s begin by showing signs of civility.

“Signs of Civility” is a participatory art project by Xavier Cortada aimed at restoring our sense of community, fellowship and love for one another. Participants will be provided with chalk and a repurposed political yard sign so they can write and display a message to their neighbors that demonstrates their love, respect and support as part of a community-wide art installation during the entirety of Miami Art Week, November 27 – December 4th.

We are launching the project with Art & Mimosas at Pinecrest Gardens’ Hibiscus Gallery at 11:00am on Sunday, November 27th, 2022. Once installed, participants are asked to upload pictures of their signs on social media with the hashtag #SignsOfCivility.

After Miami Art Week, residents can dispose of their signs or keep them to display other messages in the future.
