On Wednesday, July 7th, join the Underwater HOA for “Sustainable and Durable Concrete” with featured speaker Dr. Prannoy Suraneni, Assistant Professor, Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering Department, University of Miami.  Dr. Suraneni will present on the latest research to make concrete more sustainable, and will discuss the role concrete production and use plays in CO2 emissions and climate change.

The presentation will be followed by a Q & A with the speaker, and open discussion with UHOA community members.

Prof. Prannoy Suraneni is Assistant Professor in the Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Miami since 2017. He obtained his B.Tech., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from IIT Madras, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and ETH Zurich, respectively. Prannoy is an expert in the materials science, chemistry, and engineering of cementitious materials. He has more than 14 years of experience working on these topics, specifically in the areas of supplementary cementitious materials, alternative cementitious materials, and concrete durability. Over this time, he has published 73 journal papers, with a further 12 currently under review. Prannoy holds professional membership in American Ceramic Society, ACerS (2017 – ), American Concrete Institute, ACI (2017 – ), American Society of Civil Engineers, ASCE (2018 – ), American Society for Testing and Materials, ASTM (2018 – ) and International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures, RILEM (2018 – ).

He is Editorial Board Member for ASTM Advances in Civil Engineering Materials and Cement and Concrete Research. In the last three years, he has been nominated as ASTM International Emerging Professional (2019), ACI Emerging Member (2019), and ACI Ambassador Speaker (2019), and awarded the Portland Cement Association Fellowship (2018), University of Miami SEEDS You Choose Leadership Award (2018), Transportation Research Board Concrete Materials Section Best Paper Award (2018), Slag Cement Association Research Project of the Year (2019), and the prestigious RILEM Gustavo Colonnetti Medal (2021).
