Calling all Pinecrest Garden Club members ! Please join us on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Pinecrest Garden Club Luncheon in Pinecrest Gardens from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to hear artist-in-residence, Xavier Cortada speak about his organization, Cortada Projects, and latest eco-art project, Plan(T).
Cortada Projects uses the power of art to engage the community in learning about and addressing important ecological concerns including global climate change, sea-level rise, and biodiversity loss.
Plan(T) is the organization’s latest participatory art project. It aims to better prepare South Florida for the impacts of climate change through the planting of mangrove seedlings in Florida residents’ yards.
At the luncheon, Cortada will be conducting a Plan(T) activity that asks members to calculate their home’s elevation level and draw this number on a flag, which they can also decorate to their liking. Along with the flag, members will also be able to take their own mangrove seedling home to plant in their yard and take a step towards a brighter future for South Florida !
