La Calavera Art Exhibit
October 29 –November 26, 2005

The City of Dallas, Office of Cultural Affairs and The Ice House Cultural Center present La Calavera Art Exhibit October 29through November 26, 2005 at The Ice House Cultural Center in Oak Cliff (1004 W. Page Street, Dallas, TX 75208).

“La Calavera” is a popular image used in the celebration of “El Dia de Los Muertos”. Each year, in Mexico, a time is set aside to honor those who have passed on from this earthly domain. The celebration should not to be confused with Halloween.

Join us for our yearly celebration, with an art exhibit by local, and regional artists.

The exhibit consists of: paintings, photographs, sculpture, mixed-media, and altars assembled by area students, and the community.

Reception: Saturday, October 292005

The exhibit opens with a reception on Saturday, October 29, 2005. The reception will be held from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will include live music by “Grupo Fantasma”. Artists will also be present. Both exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

The Ice House Cultural Center opened in 1997 and provides a Latino focused venue to enrich the quality of life of the community through arts and cultural events that reflect the diversity of Oak Cliff and the surrounding Dallas communities. The Ice House Cultural Center is supported by Arte Oak Cliff, Southwest Airlines, Target Stores, Texas Commission on the Arts and the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs.
