White Mountain National Forest artist-in-residence Xavier Cortada and Lindsey E. Rustad, Ph.D., Team Leader and Forest Ecologist at Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, met at an overlook on the Kancamagus Highway and read scientific articles to the four winds (the four corners of the Earth). Through this performative art work, Cortada sought to honor the Hubbard Brook researchers who study this forest’s soils, water, vegetation and wildlife and develop knowledge that has a global impact.
