As more and more artists are linking their creative work to community, civic, and social goals, arts funders are playing a significant role in supporting their efforts. While artists may begin a project with a vision for social change, complex circumstances and challenges can compromise the end result. What practical tools and skills do artists need to help insure that the full intention of their work is realized? In this session artists and funders will give a snapshot of key challenges socially engaged artists face and training models and specific professional development tools that have been used to successfully navigate complex projects, as well as mistakes made and lessons learned.
