On March 14, 2013, youth from Youth MOVE Through the Arts and parents from the Federation of Families met with Xavier Cortada at his Miami Beach Urban Studios to get to know  one another and share a little about the reasons for coming on the “Yellow Bus”. There was singing, tears, laughter and the beginning of a wonderful collaboration.  Youth MOVE and Federation of Families look forward to the next meeting on April 18th to discuss next steps in the creation of a 5 panel collaborative mural to be created  at the May 14th, 3rd Annual Youth & Family Empowerment Summit at FIU, Modesto Maidique Campus. This traveling mural will be used to start dialogues about the stigma of mental health & substance abuse and that recovery is possible.
