Breakout room A

“What is trauma and why we must address it” The session will focus on increasing awareness of trauma

and how trauma can impact people’s lives and behaviors. It will address how to implement trauma-informed responses that will avoid re-traumatizing, ensure safety and promote recovery. In addition, trauma will be discussed by a consumer that will recount his personal recovery story.

  1. Breakout session

Breakout room B

Addressing Bullying…For Real Today, gender stereotypes, bullying, and self-harm are concerns not just

facing a select group of youth in our community. National studies show 50% of the content used in verbal bullying incidents is about gender or orientation. Each and every young person is impacted by a friend or

peer dealing with these topics. Young people exist in environments where these realities are ever present,

but where conversations about making a real difference are rare. YES Institute will open a dynamic,

interactive dialogue that explores the connections between gender expectations and anti-gay slurs that

addresses the source of harassment, bullying and self-harm. Parents, youth and providers are encouraged to

attend. Youth speakers will be featured.
