THE LONGITUDINAL INSTALLATION, REFLECTING ON EMPATHY THROUGH SOCIALLY ENGAGED ART

Learning objectives: The students will have a first-hand experience of the power of socially engaged art to create empathy on global issues such as climate change.

PRE - WORKSHOP

The day previous to the workshop

  1. Learn about the project: Individually, the student will visit the site for the Longitudinal Installation to get acquainted with the project. Click here for the PDF.

  2. The 25th Quote: After reading the 24 voices each student will record their own reflection (this is to be the 25th voice). This reflection will be the working material for the workshop so it is important the student has it ready. Characteristics of the reflection: The reflection will be recorded in a video in English which will last a maximum of 40 seconds.

NOTE: Tec students will upload their video reflection to thespaceprovided in CANVAS.

WORKSHOP

The student will participate in the workshop lead by Prof. Xavier Cortada, creator of the Longitudinal Installation. There will be a space for Q&A and the students are encouraged to actively participate.

Following Prof. Cortada’s intervention, the group will be divided into small teams. Each member of the team will present their 25th voice reflection.

The team will collaboratively select the reflection they like the most and will post their selection to the following Padlet Longitudinal Installation, 25th Voice.

Please make sure you include the name of the team members and the University you are from, to the padlet posts.

Closing: All teams will come back to the plenary session for closing remarks from Prof. Cortada.
