Xavier Cortada performs “Surrender at Tunnel Brook” during his White Mountain National Forest Residency where he and participants engage in the futile attempt of rerouting the flow of Tunnel Brook by levitating a boulder.

  • FLOR500” – Combining art, nature, and history to commemorate Florida’s quincentennial (presented by the FIU College of Architecture + the Arts Office of Engaged Creativity in partnership with the FIU School of Landscape Architecture, Viva Florida 500, Museum of Florida History, Florida Higher Education Arts Network, History Miami, Atlas of Florida Vascular Plants Institute for Systematic Botany, Florida Wildflower Foundation, and Espana Florida Foundation, Florida).
  • Hill Farm Dinner Party” – Explaining the human history of the White Mountain National Forest and the need to protect important archeological sites (created during his residency at White Mountain National Forest in collaboration with archaeologist Terry Fifield, historic archaeologist Sarah Jordan, and descendants of the Merrill family, Thornton Gore, NH).
  • Surrender at Tunnel Brook” – Performing the futile attempt of rerouting the flow of water at White Mountain National Forest to conditions prior to Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 (created during his residency at White Mountain National Forest in collaboration with hydrologist Sheela Johnson and participants, Tunnel Brook Road, NH).
  • Flower Force (Tiled Drawings)” – Transforming a work of art into 104 living gardens dedicated to someone who has inspired project participants in Pennsylvania (exhibited at RE:Green at the Martha Gault Art Gallery at Slippery Rock University, PA).
  • Wind Words” – Communicating the work of scientists at Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest to the broader community via the four winds (created during his residency at White Mountain National Forest in collaboration with Hubbard Brook Principal Investigator, Lindsay Rustad, Ph.D. and other Hubbard Brook Scientists, White Mountain National Forest, NH).
