  • “Miami Mangrove Forest” – Metaphorically reforesting downtown Miami with mangrove seedlings (presented by City of Miami and Hands on Miami, sponsored by Office of Mayor Manny Diaz, Office of Commissioner Johnny Winton, Downtown Development Authority, Downtown NET Service Center, Park West Parking, LLC, Ten Museum Park, Miami International University of Art and Design, the Show Works, Digital Spotlight Productions, and the Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council, Miami, FL).
  • “Coexistence Mural” – Celebrating unity and diversity in Miami as part of the Coexistence Miami project (created during the NCCJ Leadership Seminar: From Coexistence to Community at Miami-Dade College, Miami, FL).
  • “Painted Cuban Plane” – Carrying the individual accounts of the Cuban journey to freedom in the United States to future generations (sponsored by the Honorable Manny Diaz, Mayor of Miami, Royal Palm Communities, Goldman Properties, and the University of Miami Libraries Cuban Heritage Collection, Miami, FL).

  • Unveiling of “The Coexistence Mural” — The mural will be unveiled at the NCCJ Annual Gala Dinner. Miami artist Xavier Cortada incorporated messages from  participants of two NCCJ Leadership Seminars, From Coexistence to Community and Artists Speak Out, to create this collaborative mural.  The seminars were part of the Coexistence Miami project.

  • Unveiling of the DISCOVER BISCAYNE BAY– Unveiling of the “Discover Biscayne Bay“ mural inside the  Miami Children’s Museum on Watson Island in Miami, FL. The mural was commissioned by Citizen’s for a Better South Florida, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), and the Discover Biscayne Bay Campaign as a gift to the museum’s permanent collection.

  • ¡CELEBRA LIBERTAD! Featuring Xavier Cortada’s painting on the actual Russian Antonov-2 Colt airplane that brought a family from Cuba to the United States. Cortada will also present 45 pieces of luggage numbered sequentially from 1959 to 2004, representing each year the Cuban community has been in exile.  Each piece will include letters from exiles describing what they left behind in Cuba and what they found when they arrived here. Click here for more information.
