Cortada serves as panelist for 'Arts for Life!' Awards Ceremony

On June 20th, Xavier Cortada, renowned eco-artist, and Adam Roberti, executive director of the Xavier Cortada Foundation, were honored to serve as panelists at Governor and Mrs. Bush’s ‘Arts for Life!’ scholarship award ceremony and artists symposium. This prestigious event, held at the University of Miami’s Knight Center for Music Innovation, celebrated the artistic talents of high school students throughout Florida.

‘Arts for Life!’ recognizes and supports the creativity and artistic excellence of Florida’s youth. Annually, the program awards $1,000 scholarships to 25 high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding academic and artistic abilities in creative writing, dance, drama, music, or the visual arts. Since its inception in 1999, ‘Arts for Life!’ has awarded more than 600 scholarships, helping students pursue their artistic dreams and many past recipients have become professional artists, performers, and educators.

During the ceremony, Cortada and Roberti shared insights from their experiences in the art world, emphasizing the importance of art in fostering environmental awareness and community engagement. Their participation highlighted the integral role of the arts in addressing social and environmental issues, inspiring the next generation of artists to contribute positively to their communities.

The event underscored the enduring impact of ‘Arts for Life!’ in nurturing young talent and supporting the arts in education, reinforcing the value of creative expression in shaping a vibrant, resilient society.
