ON THIS DAY

When primaries happened on March 17, many registered voters felt they couldn’t safely cast a ballot. Today, a group of voting rights organizations is suing Florida for its election protocols and not doing enough for voters during primaries. The groups are asking for state to help supplement voter registration outreach efforts, expand mail voting deadlines and make other in-person voting options available.

The organizations who filed the complaint include LatinoJustice Puerto Rican Legal Defense & Education Fund, Demos, Advancement Project, Dream Defenders, and the New Florida Majority. Two previous emergency litigation efforts on how the state holds elections from these organizations were previously rejected.
