1999-aids-walkThe event benefits Care Resource, South Florida’s largest provider of services to more than 15,000 people living with HIV/AIDS. The fund-raiser has evolved from a group of several hundred walkers in 1989 to nearly 20,000 participants. Sunday’s walk will feature two South Florida artists – Xavier Cortada, whose mural, Bridging the Gap, was created last summer at the World AIDS Conference in Geneva; and Maryel Epps, an acclaimed gospel singer. The first panel of a glass mosaic reproduction of Cortada’s mural will be unveiled at the walk. Upon completion, the mural will be donated to Care Resource, which will work to have it installed as the first AIDS monument in the city. For more information, call 305-751-9255 (WALK).
