South Miami’s newest art festival next month will include the work of more than 100 artists from around the world, judged in 10 different categories, on five stages.
The art expo will run Jan. 9-10 on Sunset Drive between Southwest 62nd Avenue and U.S. 1. Run by the Cultural Affairs Council of South Miami, the festival will display works from well-known artists such as Xavier Cortada to students at South Miami High.
This year’s show, run by many of the same people who helped present the South Miami Arts & Crafts Festival in past years, will focus on kids.
One of the designated sections is ARTEXPOKIDS. Presented by SeaWorld of Florida, the exhibit – called the Living Seas Live Exhibit – will show the importance of the preservation of our oceans.
Other exhibits will be interactive. Among them are Climb A Mountain, SandArt and SpaceBall. Musical guests include Celestial Winds, Roberto Perera and George Tandy. Awards will be handed out Jan. 9 on the main stage on the corner of 62nd Avenue and Sunset Drive.
