Cortada Projects invites you to enjoy and support the Vieques Mangrove Recovery Project’s Art Exhibition in Vieques, Puerto Rico, opening on Wednesday, Jan. 15. as an effort to restore the island’s mangrove forest. The exhibition will be featuring several of local Miami artist Xavier Cortada’s works, including “Mangroves (On Blue)” and “Three Seedlings at Sea 1.”

In 2017, Hurricane Maria wiped out nearly 60% of the island’s mangrove forest in Mosquito Bay. The forest is essential to the bay’s flora and fauna, and, most importantly, to the bay’s bioluminescent plankton – the island’s icon and main economic driver.

The Vieques Conservation and Historical Trust is working to restore Vieques’ mangrove forest through this art exhibition. To learn more visit https://www.vcht.org/bio-bay.
